For more than 50 years, Ortofon has been designing and manufacturing vibrating magnet turntable cartridges. Along with the well-known vibrating coil units, the Moving Magnet models have established a good reputation among music lovers and Hi-Fi enthusiasts worldwide.

The new Ortofon OM 5 series includes three main speakers: OM 5S, OM 5E and Super OM 5E. Ortofon's OM series (from Optimum Match) are general purpose Hi Fi oscillating magnet turntable cartridges. One of the features of their design is the presence of a ballast plate located in the upper part of the housing in a special recess. In the case of mounting the dose on a standard arm, it is recommended that the plate be left in place. The total weight of the dose will be 5 grams, which is convenient for subsequent balancing of the arm with a standard counterweight. In the case of the OM installation on a low mass arm, the dose can be lightened by removing the plate (total weight will be 2.5 grams).

The series has the lowest mass among the Moving Magnet cartridges offered by Ortofon. OM housings are designed to provide easy mounting and alignment, both at the top and bottom of the holder. The OM 5 series provides excellent compatibility with a wide variety of preamplifiers. Ortofon's main goal in developing the series is to enable music lovers to optimize the sound reproduction of their turntable without having to replace the entire unit. On the OM5 dose, you can easily fit any needle from the series: 3E, 5E, 10, 20, 30, 40 & 78 and D 25 M depending on your preference and budget.

OM 5S is a HiFi dose with a vibrating magnet that offers a balanced sound. A robust and economical solution for playing your records. Output voltage 4.5 mV, frequency range 20-22,000 Hz, recommended force application 1.75 g, spherical needle.
